Building Safety by the Community: Behind the BSA Week Campaign
Over the past few weeks, I worked with The Brooklyn W.A.Y. (RiseBoro) to help shape the marketing and social media strategy for this year’s Brownsville Safety Alliance (BSA) Week — a community-led event reimagining what public safety looks like in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
BSA Week (Oct 7–11, 2025) brings together more than 40 local organizations to transform Mother Gaston Boulevard into a hub for resources, healing, food, vendors, and care — all centered around the idea that safety starts with the community itself.
I developed a full content calendar and visual strategy for the campaign, including pre-event awareness posts, daily updates during the week, and a post-event highlight reel. The tone focused on accessibility and authenticity — showing safety as something built by neighbors, for neighbors.
Our posts highlighted everything from community care and healing spaces to youth leadership, local businesses, and violence interruption work. Each day told a new piece of the story, ending with a collective thank-you to Brownsville for showing what real safety looks like.
This campaign wasn’t just about promotion — it was about storytelling, visibility, and community pride.
